The condition of Dr MA Wazed Miah, who has been undergoing treatment at the capital's Square Hospital, remains unchanged till this morning.
He has been suffering from high blood pressure, renal failure, diabetes and asthma for a long time. Dr Wajed, also a noted nuclear scientist and the husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been kept under close observation at the hospital.
Family members of Dr Wajed sought doa from the countrymen for his early recovery.
“Dr Wajed Miah's family has requested people of all walks of life to pray to the Almighty Allah for his early recovery,” Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad said yesterday. Meanwhile, acting president of City Awami League MA Aziz and acting general secretary Advocate Kamrul Islam in a statement called upon people to offer special munajat after Zohr prayers today in city mosques for Wajed Miah's early recovery.

গাজীপুর মে ০৭ - আওয়ামী লীগদলীয় সাবেক সাংসদ আ্সানউল্লাহ মাষ্টারের ৫ম মৃত্যুবার্ষিকী বৃহস্পতিবার গাজীপুর ও টঙ্গীতে যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় পালিত হয়েছে। বিগত বিএনপি নেতৃত্বাধীন চারদলীয় জোট সরকারের আমলে ২০০৪ সালের এদিন টঙ্গীর নোয়াগাঁও এলাকায় নিজ বাসভবনের অদুরে সন্ত্রাসীদের গুলিতে তিনি প্রাণ হারান। আ্সানউল্লাহ মাস্টারের হত্যা মামলার আসামিদের ফাঁসির রায় কর্যকর, পলাতকদের অবিলম্বে গ্রেপ্তার ও সন্ত্রাস নির্মূলের দাবি জানানো হয়েছে তার মৃত্যুবার্ষিকীর কর্মসূচিতে। কর্মসূচির মধ্যে ছিল- গাজীপুর ও টঙ্গীতে ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠান ও ভবনে কালো পতাকা উত্তোলন; গ্রামের বাড়ি পূবাইলের হায়দারারাবাদে কবরে পুষ্পস্তবক অপর্ণ, দোয়া মাহফিল, টঙ্গীর নোয়াগাঁওয়ে আলোচনা সভা ও গণভোজ। এসব কর্মসূচিতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন- জাতীয় সংসদের ডেপুটি স্পিকার শওকত আলী, স্বরাষ্ট্র প্রতিমন্ত্রী তানজিম আহমেদ, শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রী মন্নুজান সুফিয়ান, সাংসদ আ ক ম মোজাম্মেল হক ও রহমত আলী, বিএনপির যুগ্ম মহাসচিব নজরুল ইসলাম খান, শ্রমিক লীগ সভাপতি আব্দুল মতিন মাষ্টার, সাবেক সাংসদ মো. আখতার-উজ্জামান, টঙ্গী পৌরসভার মেয়র আজমতউল্লাহ্ খান এবং আসানউল্লাহ মাস্টারের ছেলে সাংসদ জাহিদ আহসান রাসেল। মৃত্যুবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে বৃহস্পতিবার ভোর থেকে সাবেক সাংসদের হায়দারাবাদের বাড়িতে জনতার ঢল নামে। দুরদুরান্ত থেকে আগত অসংখ্য নারী পুরুষ শিশু কবরে পুস্পস্তবক অর্পণ করে নীরবে দাঁড়িয়ে দোয়া করেন। এ সময় অনেকে কান্নায় ভেঙ্গে পড়েন। আহসানউল্লাহ্ মাস্টার ১৯৯৬ ও ২০০১ সালে গজীপুর সদর থেকে সাংসদ নির্বাচিত হন। এ ছাড়া ১৯৮৩ সালে পূবাইল ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ এবং ১৯৯০ সালে সদর উপজেলা পরিষদের চেয়্যারম্যান ছিলেন।

Tk 134cr for Padma Bridge land requisition
Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain today handed over a cheque of over Tk 134 crore required for the land acquisition in Madaripur district for the construction of Padma Multipurpose Bridge.
He handed over the cheque to Madaripur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shashi Kumar Singha at a function at the Shetu Bhaban this morning.
The money will be distributed within one month among the 2,000 people whose lands will be acquired for the construction of the bridge in the district.
