Aporajeo Bangla'-Undefeated Bengal at Dhaka University



A symbol of our national liberation war, this wonderful sculpture has great influence in national political, social and cultural lives. Named as Aporajeyo Bangla, it means undefeated Bangla. It is situated at the heart of Dhaka University just in front of the Arts Faculty of the University.

১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট ছাত্র-শিক্ষকদের সঙ্গে নির্ধারিত মতবিনিময় সভায় বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানকে দেওয়ার জন্য তৈরি করা মানপত্র, ক্যাসকেড, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের লোগো সম্বলিত একটি প্লেট, চামড়ার রুমাল এবং একটি ক্রেস্টের সন্ধান পাওয়া গেছে।

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক আ আ ম স আরেফিন সিদ্দিক বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে একথা জানিয়েছেন।

উপাচার্য বলেন, "বুধবার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সাবেক ডেপুটি রেজিস্ট্রার একেএম আমির হোসেন কাউন্সিল সেকশনে তার ট্যাক্সের কাগজপত্র খুঁজতে গিয়ে একটি আলমিরার মধ্যে মানপত্রটির সন্ধান পান। পরে রেজিস্ট্রার অফিসের একটি পুরাতন সিন্দুক থেকে অন্যান্য সামগ্রী পাওয়া যায়।"

তিনি জানান, এসব দলিলপত্রের রেপ্লিকা জাতীয় জাদুঘর, মুক্তিযুদ্ধ জাদুঘর, বঙ্গবন্ধু জাদুঘর ও ডাকসু সংগ্রহশালায় সরবরাহ করা হবে। তবে মূল সামগ্রীগুলো (প্রস্তাবিত) বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জাদুঘরে সংরক্ষণ ও প্রদর্শনীর জন্য রাখা হবে।

১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট সকালে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র-শিক্ষক কেন্দ্রে এক মতবিনিময় সভায় বঙ্গবন্ধুর বক্তব্য দেওয়ার কথা ছিল। অনুষ্ঠানে তৎকালীন উপাচার্য আবদুল মতিন চৌধুরীর মানপত্রটি পাঠ করার কথা ছিল।

Hang the killers: SC Star Online Report The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the High Court verdict that confirmed death sentences of 12 retired and dismissed army men in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mijubur Rahman assassination case. The five-member bench comprising Justice Md Tafazzul Islam, Justice Md Abdul Aziz, Justice BK Das, Justice Md Muzammel Hossain and Justice SK Sinha delivered the verdict dismissing the appeals filed by five convicts against their death sentences in this case. Lt Col (sacked) Syed Farooq-ur Rahman, Lt Col (retd) Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Lt Col (retd) Muhiuddin Ahmed, Lt Col (retd) AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed and Maj (retd) Bazlul Huda, who are now behind bars, filed the appeals with the apex court in October 2007 against their convictions and death sentences by a lower court.
